Her maiden voyage between Liverpool and New York started on 20th Feb 1867.

In 1878 the Baltimore and Ohio Railway Company determined to run a fleet of transatlantic steamers. It became known as the "Johnston Line", all of whose ships' names ended with "..more". The Inman steamers City of Baltimore and City of Antwerp were purchased and renamed Baltimore and Thanemore.

During 1878 she was sold to Johnston Line, who gave her new boilers and compound engines, and renamed Thanemore. They also increased her size to 3,032 tons. She was still bearing that name when she disappeared in 1890, with 43 on board, she was believed to have been burned at sea.
