Notes:
Captain Duncan M'Kellar acted as as managing owner and commanded one of the steamers, which were owned by a company of Glasgow gentlemen and maintained the Largs and Milport service.
M'Kellar had served in the army, and the martial style of nomenclature which the company adopted for their boats (the first had been the Hero) was recognition of the fact.
