¹[Clyde Passenger Steamers from 1812 to 1901, Williamson]
In the summer of 1844 a new M'Kellar boat made her debut. She was a very fast and very smart-looking steamer, built of iron, no expense being spared in her external and internal adornment. The name Invincible was bestowed on her in token of her owner's confidence.
In 1853 John Barr built the Vesta to replace the Invincible, which he probably took over in part payment, as his name appears as owner during the few years she remained on the Clyde.
