Notes:
The origin of this company was as follows. Messrs Tod & Macgregor built the paddle steamer Queen in 1838 and placed her in service on the River Lee. In the same year they added the Maid of Erin which, however, proved unsuitable and was sold to the Waterford Company. Princess & Prince were added in 1841 & 1843 respectively.
In 1844, 48 shares in each ship were purchased by Thomas Reeves, Daniel Dougan, John McNamara and others, the remaining 16 shares being retained by Tod and Macgregor. The company appears variously as "City of Cork Proprietors" and "The River Steamboat Company".
In 1856 the Railway Company bought over the River Steamer Comapny, but in 1859 sold their interest to the Citizens River Steamers Company.
