Notes:
The first Princess Royal (a famous name in the Langlands fleet) was much larger and more powerful than her two predecessors, and on her first homeward trip, she established a record run of 15 hours 40 minutes from
Liverpool to Greenock. On May 26th 1856, she went aground on the Scaur of Laggan, near Corswell, and her passengers, having been successfully put ashore, continued their voyages on the Herald. Despite the attempts of Mr. Langlands on board the Albion, attended by a steam lighter, the Princess Royal became a total wreck.
